THE COLLEGE

The College of Engineering and Computer Science (CECS) at VinUniversity is a dynamic center of innovation and inquiry, advancing knowledge across both foundational and emerging fields. While we offer four undergraduate programs—Computer Science, Data Science, Electrical Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering—as well as a PhD in Computer Science, our strength lies in cultivating a research ecosystem that is both interdisciplinary and impact-driven.

Our faculty and researchers are united by a shared mission: to push the boundaries of science and technology in service of societal progress. With an entrepreneurial mindset and a spirit of innovation, we pursue groundbreaking research in areas such as artificial intelligence for healthcare, privacy in autonomous systems, pathogen detection in wastewater, and energy-efficient technologies. We also engage with broader conceptual questions, including the philosophy of technology and the role of technological innovation in public services.

THE SMART GREEN TRANSFORMATION CENTER (GREEN-X)

GREEN-X at VinUni is an interdisciplinary research center focusing on smart green transformation, conducting scientific research, technology development, and policy consulting in areas such as carbon emission tracking, smart aquaculture, urban circular economy, green economic policy, and innovation competitiveness measurement—aiming to promote sustainable development and enhance the competitiveness of localities and businesses through data-driven, evidence-based, and field-validated approaches.

We are currently have 5 running projects:

  • Carbon Footprint Monitoring and Management System (CarbonFootPrint)
  • Smart Marine Conservation and Aquaculture System (SmartMarine)
  • Smart Waste Management for Urban Circular Economy (SmartWaste)
  • Green Policy Design and Evaluation (GreenPolicy)
  • Vietnam Innovation & Green Growth Index (VIGGI)

THE POSITION

This full-time, research-focused faculty position carries a dual appointment between CECS and GREEN-X at VinUniversity. This position will primarily contribute to research activities at GREEN-X, while supporting teaching and mentoring students within CECS.

We welcome applications from those with expertise in or across these disciplines:

  • Environmental Monitoring and Assessment
  • Pollution Control and Environmental Remediation
  • Waste Valorization and Resource Recovery
  • Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and Emission Factor Analysis

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

The faculty members will be responsible for two primary responsibilities:

  1. Research
  • Lead high-impact research with strong translational outcomes and publications in top-tier journals and secure competitive external funding.
  • Lead pilot treatment system design and validation; advancing toward scalable and commercially deployable solutions; quantify pollutant reduction.
  • Support emission factor development, aquaculture impact assessments, MRV standards, and environmental indicators for LCA-based index frameworks.
  • Foster interdisciplinary collaboration within and beyond the College through active engagement in academic events.
  • Contribute to innovation, entrepreneurship, and technology transfer, including commercialization efforts.
  1. Service
  • Contribute to university service through committee work, faculty recruitment, graduate student admission, accreditation, and program development.
  • Support initiatives aligned with VinUni’s Vision 2030 and carry out duties assigned by the Dean and the Center’s Director.

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

  • Doctorate degree from a globally recognized institution, with expertise in Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering; preferably with knowledge of pilot- and full-scale systems and ISO 14064/14067
  • Strong vision for impactful, forward-thinking research and innovation.

  • Passion for education and advancing science through innovative projects.
  • Adaptable and driven to address global and local challenges, especially those relevant to Vietnam.
