Utilizing satellite and drone imagery to monitor deforestation, UHIs, green space degradation, and detect super-emitters

Project Summary

This project leverages artificial intelligence and computer vision to analyze satellite and drone imagery for monitoring deforestation, urban heat islands, green space degradation, and methane emissions. By developing a sensor-agnostic AI framework, the research enhances the accuracy and scalability of environmental data, supporting evidence-based decision-making for sustainable urban planning. The project contributes to climate action and sustainable development by providing tools for early detection of environmental risks and strengthening Vietnam’s and VinUni’s leadership in AI-driven sustainability research. Below we used some public figures to show the expected outputs.

Objectives

To develop an AI-driven environmental monitoring framework capable of detecting, quantifying, and mapping key environmental phenomena: deforestation, urban heat risk, green space degradation, and methane super-emitters, using multi-source remote sensing data, and delivering these insights via commercially viable, user-friendly software platforms.
