On July 11, 2025, the Ho Chi Minh City Institute for Development Studies and VinUniversity conducted a field survey at Hiep Phuoc Industrial Park as part of their efforts to complete a green transformation assessment toolkit for the city. The delegation worked with 21 enterprises, including leading companies such as Jotun Paint Vietnam, Meizan CLV, FICO Cement Plant, as well as manufacturers in paper, steel, and industrial pumps such as Tsurumi Pump. Discussions focused on data collection and the exchange of practical experiences in adopting sustainable production practices.

During the meeting, accurately measuring greenhouse gas emissions and energy consumption in production activities was considered a foundation for assessing current conditions and developing appropriate green transition strategies. Several enterprises shared operational data, including electricity usage, fuel consumption, and the current share of renewable energy in their production processes.

Discussion between the delegation and business representatives
In parallel, the discussion also addressed the need for adequate technical infrastructure – covering electricity, water supply, telecommunications, fire prevention, and wastewater treatment – toward improving the efficiency of cleaner production. Many companies committed to gradually developing eco-industrial models, adopting ISO standards, and investing in green spaces and shared amenities to enhance operational efficiency and social responsibility.
Through the discussions, an initial set of survey indicators was establish, including wastewater reuse rate, solid waste recycling, renewable energy usage, and the rate of ISO 14001 and ISO 50001 adoption. The working session was regarded as an important starting point for establishing a data foundation for the project, thereby supporting the development of appropriate policies and roadmap for the green transition at Hiep Phuoc Industrial Park.
