Dinh Van Dung, PhD

Duke University

Dr. Dinh Van Dzung has over 30 years of experience in ICT R&D, consulting, and
training. He works in a number of research areas including Digital Transformation,
Digital Platforms Development (Cloud, IoT, DataOps, MLOps, ModelOps), Smart
Education, Digital Health, Smart Agriculture, Smart Green Tranformation, and Smart
Cities. Dr Dzung was a Fulbright Scholar at New York University, USA. He obtained
his Ph.D. from the Post and Telecoms Institute of Technology, Vietnam, his M.E.E.
degree from University of Technology, Sydney, Australia, B.E.E. degree from the
Odessa Institute of Telecommunications, the former Soviet Union.
He has led many national research projects and acted as a principal investigator of
international projects at RisTI (Indonesia), NTT, NICT (Japan), LG, ETRI, GIST,
KETI (Korea), NYU (USA), and Horizon 2020 (EU). He was the ICT project leader,
trainer, and consultant for Vietnam National Committee for e-Government, Viettel,
VNPT, Saigon Postel, EVNTelecoms, VNU HCM, VNU Hanoi, Thailand Telecoms
(TOT), AIT, and WB. Given awards: National Youth Union Award for Young
Innovators, “Vietnam Talents” Award for the development of the first IP-PBX system
in Vietnam, National Award for New Science & Technology Innovation (VIFOTECH)
on NetPlan – A Unified Suite of Network Planning Software Tools.
He actively contributed to the International Telecoms Union (ITU) as the Vicechairman of ITU-D Study Group 2. He was the Deputy Director of Research Institute
of Post and Telecoms, the Assistant Director of Vietnam Branch – Korea Information
and Communications Society (KICS), the Deputy Director of VNU Information
Technology Institute.
